Tasmanian Myrtle includes Flame, Tiger and Burl grain variations

Tree Size: Medium sized hardwood from Tasmania and eastern Victoria.

Wood description: Heartwood pink/reddish brown with fine grain.

 Density/Weight:  700 kg/m3.

 Drying: Shrinkage  3 - 6.5 %

Working Qualities: Responds well to bending, sanding and accepting a finish.

Tonality: Tonal range is varied but the denser Tiger material is more responsive. Brighter in resonance than

  Rosewood

Availability:  Highly figured myrtle in all its forms has limited availability. The Tiger form is extremely rare and highly sought after.
